I'll start off this blog with a post explaining what I'm am currently doing to prepare myself for when I graduate. I will graduate. I am going to make this post specifically dedicated to books.
Firstly with my new DSA book allowance, I have purchased the following books which I think will be most beneficial to my future prospects:
Account Demystified - Anthony Rice
How To Sell Yourself - Joe Girard
The Ultimate Small Business Marketing Book - Dee Blick
Damn Good Advice (For People With Talent!): How To Unleash Your Creative Potential - George Lois
Daily Rituals: How Artists Work - Mason Curry
This part of the post will be dynamic, I will review each book:
How To Sell Yourself - Joe Girard

I have just finished this book which sounds pretty unrelated to graphic design. Joe Girard is in the Guinness book of records, listed as the best salesmen in the world. As graphic design is all about communication I found it interesting to read how Joe regularly used sales techniques to sell cars. Some of the his tips are fairly obvious but some are really clever.
As well as receiving some useful pointers in closing deals and getting people interesting in your products, Joe Girard has a extremely high work ethic which not only explains the importance of hard work but also translates to anyone can get where they want to go if they work smart and hard. The most important message I got from Joe is when communicating with a client the service you provide is crucial to keeping them sweet!
Account Demystified - Anthony Rice

Started reading this book last night. I didn't expect to read this book if I'm honest. It looks pretty dull. This is great for people who are dyslexic and have no experience with accounting. Starts off by explaining the balance sheet in a really simplified manner. It explains the key principles to accounting and then covers the balance sheet chart. Anthony Rice has written the guide with a second person narrative. The second voice asks questions and comments on the definition Rice provides which is actually quite useful as it answers most questions you have. I glad I took the time time begin this book as it is fairly important for anyone who wants to go self employed and doesn't want to spend huge amounts on an accountant.
